STEP 11 – MORE ABOUT INTERNAL USAGE

Eating plants is definitely part of a healthy diet. Did you know that, whether you are using fresh plants, dried herbs, or hot water infusions (tea), you can experience these same health benefits by using Essential Oils INTERNALLY?

When you use dried oregano in your homemade lasagna or sprinkle cinnamon on your Café Mocha, you are actually ingesting small amounts of Essential Oils that are naturally occurring in the plant.

Essential Oils are more potent than the fresh or dried plant, so small amounts should be employed when using them INTERNALLY.

DID YOU KNOW? There are 30 pounds of Lavender in our 15ml bottle of Lavender Essential Oil. It takes about 50 Lemons to produce one 15ml bottle of Lemon Essential Oil.

When we take an Essential Oil INTERNALLY, we are giving our body a potent, INTERNAL supplement that can provide targeted support.

The INTERNAL USE of Essential Oils is not something new to the Essential Oils Industry. Prominent French aromatherapists, including Jean Valnet, Paul Belaiche, and Henri Viaud, have advocated for INTERNAL USE, including the use of vegetable caps or softgels.

Essential Oils are fat-soluable, allowing these health benefits to be readily available for organs all over the body. Mucous Membranes form a protective barrier around our organs, especially our digestive organs. As they enter the digestive tract, Essential Oils bind with mucin and then travel through the tract until they are absorbed into the bloodstream.

Today, Essential Oils can be found on the FDA’s Generally Recognized as Safe list which means that each Oil has been heavily researched for safety. This list recognizes that Essential Oils are safe to use as flavoring and preservatives. Of course, we know that the health benefits go far beyond just a nice flavor in our soup; but the point is, this list confirms the safety of the INTERNAL USE of Essential Oils.

METHODS FOR USING YOUR OILS INTERNALLY

• Vegetable (Veggie) Caps – Put one to two drops into a veggie cap with a carrier oil. Swallow whole. Drink fluids.

• Softgels – We offer a line of premade softgels that have the Essential Oil ready to go.

• Water/Tea – Add two to four drops per 8 oz. of water. Use a glass or stainless steel cup ONLY.

TIPS

• Check for a “Supplemental Fact” on each bottle—oils with “Supplemental Fact” on the bottle are safe for INTERNAL USE.

• Some Essential Oils are not recommended for internal use, such as Arborvitae, Birch, Cedarwood, Cypress, Eucalyptus, White Fir, and Wintergreen.

• Note specific chemistry, beneficial effects, safety considerations, and appropriate application methods for each oil.
